Set grace periods, clock-in start time, and enforcement before rolling out attendance tracking.

What this does

Defines what time counts as "on time," how much grace period is allowed, and whether attendance rules are strictly enforced.

Who can do this

Anyone with attendance management permission (tenant admins and owners by default).

Steps

  1. Go to Settings > Clock In.

  2. Set the expected clock-in start time and grace period for your organization.

  3. Optionally, set more specific rules for a department, location, or worker type — these override the organization-wide default for the people they apply to.

  4. Turn on strict enforcement if you want clock-ins outside the allowed window blocked rather than just flagged.

  5. Save.

What happens next

The next clock-in evaluated against this configuration will be classified as early, on time (present), or late accordingly — see "How attendance status is determined" for exactly how that's calculated.

Important notes

  • Rules can be scoped narrower than the organization default — an individual employee's rule beats their role's, which beats their department's, which beats their location's, which beats their worker type's, which beats the tenant-wide default.
